5 Gifts of God

I’ve heard the phrase, “the days are long, but the years are short” a lot lately. I find that it applies to how things feel right now. Days seem to drag on sometimes, but before we know it, the years are up. Already we are almost a quarter of the way through 2014. Wow. The days do drag at times, but my do the years go fast.

I was 17 when my sister Madison was born. Her name means “Gift of God” and every year of her life, has been a gift to our family. Today she is 5 years old. I cannot picture what life would be without her. Countless times I have looked at her and I’ve wondered how we ever would have gotten along without her. I don’t think we would have.

The amount of joy that she brings is immeasurable. She brings life into everything. I thank God for giving us the precious gift of her life.

There is so much to learn from her. Multiple times she has woken up in the morning, and before her feet even touch.the floor, she excitedly exclaims: “Today is going to be a great day!” What a child! There are so many things to learn from her life and livelihood.

She has taught me that you are never too young for God to use you.

Each year with Madison has been a gift – and each year will continue to be so.

Happy Birthday, Madison. You are a blessing to this family, and dear to my life. I love you!
