Hello My Name Is….

hellomynameisA few years ago a dear friend of mine gifted me with a package of name tags. This might seem like a strange sort of gift, but when she expressed the meaning it made much more sense and brought significance. She told me about the importance of a name – it is your identity – it is who you are.

A good name is more desirable than great wealth. Respect is better than silver or gold. Proverbs 22:1 (GWT)

She continued in saying that she believes that I am meant to be many things and that I am to declare over myself, what my name is each day. (For example: Strong, Gracious, Dreamer, Blessing, Hope, etc.) I did this all throughout my school year and each day was lived with a consciousness of what my name was and what that meant in the life I lived. This revolutionized the way that I lived and thought.

It changed the way that I looked at people. I believe that every day there is a divine appointment that we are meant to take hold of – someone we are supposed to meet, bless, pray for, ordained of heaven to share the love of Jesus. We don’t always see it because we are too busy thinking about what we are doing, rather than who we are. When you know who you are, you will never be the same.

I found the name tags the other day as I was cleaning my car. What came to mind was not my identity, but the people who I’ve seen who have forgotten who they are and who have had their identity snatched away from them. Every day hundreds of girls are stripped of their identity and branded with a number.

They become just one more victim.

After being victimized countless times, they lose more and more of themselves.

Their identities are stolen away by those who see them as no more than a number.

My prayer today is for those who have been stripped of their identities. I pray for rescue for them in every aspect – physically, mentally, spiritually, emotionally.

My prayer is to take away their number and give them a new name tag declaring who they are:

Will you join me in prayer today for FREEDOM for these victims?

What is your name?
