Today is a day where love is celebrated. Chocolate and flowers and other gifts with sweet cards will appear on tables and desks. Reservations for dinner will be made. Valentines Day for many is a day to celebrate love.
For others, it is not so beautiful.
Every minute, 2 more people are trafficked.
There are over 30 million women, men and children who are enslaved today.
One of the most beautiful stories I have heard about ministering to human trafficking victims came out of Phoenix. Every now and again they will take roses out to the streets at night and hand them out to the prostitutes and trafficking victims. Much of the time they are shocked and surprised that someone would give them such a thing. They are even more surprised when they hear why. “Because you’re worth it.”
I’ve seen the hollowness of a victims eyes…it is moment like these that you see a slight change in them, a glimmer of hope as they connect with life for a moment again. Someone really cares. A single rose makes a difference in them. One of these girls I’m privileged to have met and she, I’m happy to say was rescued and is a part of rescuing others like her.
So, as you go about celebrating love today, I want to challenge you to find a way to love on these victims today. Donate to a human trafficking rescue organization. Write something. Pray for them. Make their cause known. Because they are worth it.
They deserve to be loved.
They’re worth it.
You’re worth it.
